Especially if you’re looking for a fun and straightforward way to save money! Now, more than ever, there are so many different cash-back apps for groceries.

All you need to do is download the various apps, and you’re on your way. Cash-back apps for groceries differ in some distinct ways. Some are very simple, and others include videos you must watch to earn the reward.

Why Use Cash Back Apps For Shopping?

It all depends on how much time you can spend. The opportunities are there.

You have to go grocery shopping anyway, so by using one or more of these cash-back apps for groceries, you will keep more of your hard-earned money for your family.

Wanna earn money while you shop? Then don't miss this!

This post contains affiliate links for your convenience (which means if you make a purchase after clicking a link I will earn a small commission but it won’t cost you any extra)! Read my full disclosure policy.

Let’s talk about a few of the most popular cash-back apps available for groceries.

1. SavingStar

Activate offers by clicking on a plus sign and then go shopping at participating stores. To redeem a rebate, you’ll need to select a store, scan the product’s barcode, and upload a picture of your receipt.

At CVS and a couple of other stores, you’ll link your store loyalty cards to your SavingStar account, and then your rebates will be automatically submitted.

You also can submit rebates through www.savingstar.com, but you’ll still need to upload a photo of your receipt and type in the barcode number instead of scanning it.

Once you have $5 in your account, you can cash out and get select gift cards or deposit money directly into your bank or PayPal account.

2. Checkout 51

Checkout 51 utilizes many brand-name products. New weekly deals begin every Thursday.

Star items you may buy, snap a photo of your receipt showing that you purchased the item, then select the items on your receipt and click on “claim it” to receive credit for offers.

Once your account balance reaches $20, you can ask the company to mail you a check.

3. Ibotta

The largest and most popular grocery app is Ibotta. (Pssst…click that link – you’ll be so happy you did!) Maybe you thought it was too good to be true.

Ibotta makes it easy to earn cash back at over 275 grocery store brands, including Walmart, Kroger, Publix, CVS, and Walgreens. You can also earn some money back from online stores, including Jet, Apple Music, and Amazon, for non-grocery purchases.

I have made hundreds of dollars using Ibotta for my grocery purchasing, and I wasn’t even trying very hard.

The trick is to check out all the offers first, click the ones that you’re interested in, and be sure to follow the “rules” of the offer. Sometimes you need to buy multiples.

The receipt is very quickly scanned into your app. Be sure to do this while sitting in your car in the parking lot! You don’t want to take the chance of misplacing your receipt. (I’ve done that a time or two!)

It’s addicting to see the money values add up. You can redeem your earnings by choosing various gift cards which are easy to use either in-store or online.

4. Receipt Pal

With this cash-back app for groceries, you can earn rewards in a “snap,” just by uploading pictures of your receipt. I mean, can it get any easier??

In addition to scanning grocery receipts, you can get paid for things like getting your oil changed or buying a cup of coffee from the gas station. After submitting four receipts, you earn 100 points. You can earn up to 300 points (12 receipts) each week.

This is very easy to do, and you can use any receipt. You can even link your email and it will pick up receipts sent there. But you must submit the receipts before a certain period of time. Thankfully though, the app warns you of upcoming deadlines.

When you’re ready to redeem your rewards points, you can choose to receive either a cash payment or gift cards to many online stores. Also, you can try to win one of the weekly ReceiptPal sweepstakes.

5. Coupons.com

An oldie but a goodie, this is a classic way to find and print coupons to take to the store with you. Be sure to check with your other apps to see which coupons correspond with the offers available on your cash-back grocery apps.

You can save a ton of money by combining offers. As long as the store you’re shopping at will allow you to.

6. Cellfire

Cellfire lets you download digital coupons to your store loyalty cards through their cash-back app. This can be a great option if you have several loyalty cards.

Just have the cashier scan your Cellfire barcode, and the savings will be automatically applied before you pay.

An additional benefit to Cellfire is that every coupon becomes digital. For non-grocery coupons, you can take a picture of the barcode, and the app will convert the paper coupon into a digital coupon that can be scanned at checkout.

7. Walmart Savings Catcher

If you already purchase your groceries at Walmart, you need to begin using the Walmart Savings Catcher app. This is a great way to make sure you’re getting the lowest possible price for your groceries.

Scan your receipts within seven days of purchase, and you’ll receive a cash credit if a competitor sells the same item for a lower price. Walmart will credit you the difference even if the competitor’s price is still lower after using a coupon! Wowsers! That’s pretty amazing!

All you have to do is scan the barcode at the bottom of your Walmart receipt or enter the tracking code into the Savings Catcher website.

Rewards dollars can be redeemed for Walmart gift cards or a prepaid Bluebird debit card if you prefer a cash reward.

Update: The Walmart Savings Catcher has been discontinued. Bummer! When I researched it, the information said that the program reached it’s initiative, which was to be the low cost leader…so I guess it stands to reason that shopping at Walmart should lend to savings!

8. Fetch Rewards

If you like to buy name-brand items, you can earn rewards points with the Fetch Rewards app.

Chances are, you buy at least one of these brands on a regular basis. The nice thing is that the offers are good from any store, so you can shop at a smaller local store or a national-brand grocery store. You can totally decide!

After scanning your receipt, you earn rewards points for each item that you purchase. For each dollar spent, you earn ten points. These points can be redeemed for Visa gift cards or retail gift cards. It adds up quick!

I’d sure love it if you used my referral code 🙂 :

9. Ebates

A favorite online cash-back app for groceries is Ebates. (Click this link too – you can thank me later! 😉 ) You can use it to save money at online grocery stores, including Vitacost, Jet, Boxed, GNC, and Blue Apron.

Ebates uses a unique tracking i.d. that allows the retailer to automatically send the purchase information to Ebates and earns you a cash reward within two days. No scanning of receipts needed!

Ebates lets you earn varying percentages at over 2,000 retailers. You can initiate a shopping session from your computer or use the mobile app.

Once your rewards balance reaches $5, you can request payment by PayPal or check. First-time users will receive a $10 cash bonus after their first $25 purchase.

This is one of the most straightforward cash-back apps available. I have earned hundreds of dollars purchasing what I would be purchasing anyway.

Coupons cannot be used with this app, and you cannot double dip. Check the other apps first, and see if this is the best way to go for your grocery shopping.

Many of these cash-back apps for groceries are so user friendly and easy to manage. Sign up for any that are new to you and start earning today.

There are Referral Programs for You to Earn Even More Money!

Many of the programs have a referral system where you can share a link and earn a reward for spreading the love! Your friends and family will enjoy watching the rewards add up, and so will you.

Keep more of your hard-earned money in your pocket by using these online apps when you go grocery shopping.  Grocery shopping is a necessity, but these apps add a lot of entertainment while you save money.

It can take a little extra organization, but a few moments spent logging into an app or scanning your receipts can quickly add up to more cash in your wallet! And nobody’s gonna complain about that!

Bonus:

Two apps worth mentioning (really, they’re Chrome extensions) are Wikibuy and Honey. Although they aren’t a cash back app in the traditional sense, they’re apps that work to find you the best price on something before you buy. I can’t even believe how easy either of these two are!

In fact, one day, I had a savings at my Amazon checkout and I had totally forgotten about installing Honey! It’s just that easy!

So instead of getting the cash back, you get to keep it in the first place!

You can check out Wikibuy here.

and Honey here.

They both have great referral programs as well, so sign up your friends and family, hey, you could even sign up your mechanic! Everyone loves to save and earn money! I don’t think anyone’s gonna complain if you point them in the right direction!! 🙂
